Those in the know realize it's hard to pin down caffeine content to anything specific of different kinds of tea, especially with green tea, as shown here. Supposedly, only 5% of the caffeine remains.<br /><br />Green tea should be brewed with water far less than boiling, about 150-175 degrees F. Cooler, the flavor is not extracted, hotter, the flavor is lost. Some green teas should be brewed for as little as 30 seconds, mostly Japanese green teas.<br /><br />Black tea needs boiling water in a preheated cup or pot for 3-5 minutes.<br /><br />Black and green tea each have their own different health benefits.<br /><br />The caffeine in tea speeds you up. This is counterbalanced by theonine, which slows you down. Different effect than coffee. This is why the ancient monks drank tea, so they could stay awake while meditating, but not be jittery.
